Doghide River Rods and Relics car club hosting inaugural car show

A lack of car shows in the region this year has prompted the Doghide River Rods and Relics to host one this Sunday.

The car show is set to run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tisdale Museum.

Organizer Darrel Davis said they are hoping to bring in around 30 cars.

“We are just really hoping to get some people out and get some donations for the museum that hasn’t been able to open this year due to COVID,” Davis said.

Member of Parliament Randy Hoback is having a drive-by barbecue that afternoon as well with proceeds going to the Tisdale and District Museum.

Those wishing to bring in a vehicle for the show is asked to come to the north gate just before 1 p.m. Spectators are asked to park on the south side of the museum.

Social distancing protocols will be in place with sanitation stations set up.

“There is a lot of space there to park so we will social distance and make sure there is enough distance between cars,” Davis said.

The car club typically meets once a week at a local restaurant for coffee and cars but this year has been a bit slow for attending area car shows.

“We have a fairly large area with people coming from Arborfield, Zenon Park, Melfort, Nipawin as well as Tisdale,” Davis said. “The last coffee and cars we had last Thursday we had 30 cars out from the general area.”

The Nipawin museum hosted a car show last weekend and had about 30 cars out.

“It is also pretty weather dependent because a lot of guys don’t bring their cars out if the weather doesn’t cooperate,” Davis said.

The club is planning to host their own car show every year with this being the inaugural event.
