Brown and Fry to meet each other in Ladies Lobstick semifinals
Two players with local ties have made it to the top four at the 2020 Ladies Lobstick in Waskesiu, but only one of them will make it to the finals.
Saskatoon’s Kim Brown, who grew up in Prince Albert and has won the last three Ladies Lobstick titles, is the second seed of the tournament. Brown defeated Maureen Bowerman in the quarterfinals Wednesday to put her in the Championship Flight semifinals. Brown will take on Brooklin Fry, the 15-year-old sharpshooter from Shell Lake, in the semifinals on Thursday.
Fry comes into the tournament with the women’s amateur and junior championships under her belt this year, and is the first Saskatchewan women’s golfer to win both titles at the same time since 2010. Fry defeated Nancy Brooks in the quarterfinals to advance.
The winners of each match will continue into the semifinals of each of their flights. The losers will still be alive and play on the consolation side of each flight.
