Resurfacing Lion’s Park walking path delayed

Sep 1, 2020 | 12:57 PM

The resurfacing work at Lion’s Park walking path has been delayed by one week due to repairs to the contractor’s equipment.

In an email, the city’s manager Diana Burton confirmed with meadowlakeNOW the entire walking path will be resurfaced and overall drainage of the park, including the installation of some culverts, will also be improved. Weather permitting, these improvements are expected to take approximately two weeks.

In May, council considered repaving the walking path at Lions’ Park and among other projects which residents could immediately enjoy the municipal economic enhancement program (MEEP). Due to delays related to the pandemic, the city recently confirmed in the project would move forward.

According to the city’s Voyent Alert app, work began Aug. 29 to improve drainage in the area, specifically in between baseball diamonds four and five.

The public is asked to stay out of barricaded work areas and be mindful of children playing near construction equipment or riding bikes through barricaded areas.

Areas of the path not under construction are still useable, though residents are reminded to be safe while using the park in the coming weeks.
