Melfort Fire responds to pair of blazes over long weekend

The Melfort Fire Department was kept busy this long weekend.

On Friday, Sept. 4, crews were called to a structure fire on Higgins Ave West around 8 p.m. where a shed was fully engulfed.

Crews made sure the fire didn’t spread to nearby trees or structures before extinguishing the shed.

Then on Sunday, Sept. 6, shortly before 1 a.m., crews were called to the 100 Block of Hatton Ave East where flames were coming out the back window of a residence.
