Humboldt Age-Friendly Committee puts out survey for senior residents

Sep 11, 2020 | 8:00 AM

The Humboldt Age-Friendly Committee is giving senior residents a chance to have their voices heard.

In conjunction with the Sask. Senior Mechanism, a survey is available to those senior residents of Humboldt.

“This is just a survey to see what people feel are the most important in their lives,” Humboldt Age-Friendly Committee member Loretta Lidgren said.

Lidgren said the Sask. Senior Mechanism, and Humboldt Age-Friendly Committee are there to engage the senior communities.

In this survey, there are a number of topics covered according to Lidgren. Topics like transportation, housing, communication, community supports, and general inclusion for seniors. Lidgren said it’s important everyone has a platform to share their thoughts.

“At least so that the city and other people know what’s going on,” she said. “And what can be done about it.”

Lidgren said once the information is collected and dissected, the committee will work with organizations, and the City of Humboldt to make change. She said the changes won’t all happen all at once, but it’s a way for those groups and the city to understand concerns seniors have.

Surveys are available for pick up at Humboldt City Hall, and some have also already been delivered to various seniors complexes in Humboldt.

Lidgren added they are also looking for more members to join the Humboldt Age-Friendly Committee. She said it’s a small committee right now, and with more members, they’ll be able to do more around the community.
