Eight new cases of COVID-19, one new recovery in Saskatchewan

The province has recorded eight new cases of COVID-19.

The cases are located in the Saskatoon (six), South West (one) and South Central (one) zones.

Three cases from last week were removed from the provincial total as one was a false positive and the other two cases were out of province.

The total amount of reported cases is now at 1,731.

Of the total cases, 103 are considered active. A total of 1,604 people have recovered, including one new recovery reported today.

Three people are in hospital receiving inpatient care in Saskatoon.

Of the current active cases, 34 are in communal living settings.

Of the 1,731 cases, 259 are travellers, 855 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 518 have no known exposures and 99 are under investigation by local public health.

Across the province, 69 cases are healthcare workers (although not all sourced their infections from work). There are 284 cases involving people aged 19 years old and younger.

There are 568 cases in the 20 to 39 age range, 529 in the 40 to 59 age range, 292 in the 60 to 79 age range and 58 in the 80-plus age range.

Fifty-one per cent of cases are females and 49 per cent are males.

There are 24 deaths related to COVID-19 reported to date.

There are:

• 431 cases from the south area (221 south west, 197 south central, 13 south east)
• 357 cases from the far north area (349 far north west, eight far north east)
• 307 cases from the Saskatoon area
• 270 cases from the north area (131 north west, 73 north central, 66 north east)
• 227 cases from the central area (168 central west, 59 central east)
• 139 cases from the Regina area
• One case location is pending

To date, 160,275 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province, with 1,819 performed yesterday.

Testing is available to anyone who requests it, regardless of whether or not they have symptoms.

The province has updated its COVID-19 dashboard to include more comprehensive data, along with the 13 zones.

Gathering restrictions still in place

Residents are reminded that both outdoor and indoor gatherings are limited to 30 people maximum, as long as there is space for people to maintain two metres of separation.

With food service, potlucks are discouraged and there should be no shared platters or buffets. Food served should be plated and one person should handle the preparation of food and drink to reduce the number of people touching serving utensils, the province said.
