Smile Cookie campaign donates to NorthWest Community Lodge Association

Tim Hortons’ Smile Cookie is back this week and supporting local charities of choice. The NorthWest Community Lodge Association (NCLA) is the lucky recipient again this year.

The local Tim Hortons will donate 100 per cent of its Smile Cookie proceeds toward NCLA efforts in raising funds for the new long term care facility’s furniture and equipment.

NCLA spokesperson Alannah Farr told meadowlakeNOW the association has been the recipient of donations since 2016 and this year will mark NCLA’s fifth year in receiving Smile Cookie funding.

“Every year our donations range from $2,000 to $2,500,” Farr said. “There are order forms that people or local businesses get to order multiple cookies.”

Each cookie costs $1 and group members said they will continue fundraising for the new facility after it is built to contribute toward future equipment needs.

“Even when the new facility is built, we will still hold annual fundraisers for equipment as the years go on,” Farr said.

In previous years, NCLA members delivered Smile Cookies to the community, however with the current pandemic, members will be social distancing and ask customers to pick up their order.

Order forms can be issued by sending NCLA a message or by dropping by the local Tim Hortons at 712 Ninth Street West in Meadow Lake.

The smile cookie campaign runs from September 14 to 20.
