Meadow Lake’s Chamber of Commerce, The City of Meadow Lake and local RCMP are calling on businesses, agencies and families to partake in a weekend of games, physical activity and community togetherness.

The 2020 Meadow Lake Community Summer Olympics is a chance to come together to promote well-being and enjoy the activities available at Lion’s Park as the summer draws to an end.

Chamber Assistant, Coleton Ethier said the olympics includes four recreational lawn events over four days with a championship bracket on the final day.

“Anyone can participate including children,” he told meadowlakeNOW. “Teams of 12 will be split into pools of three and each team will play each other in each event in a round robin format.”

Events include disk golf, bocce ball, horseshoes and ladder ball. Ethier added while no prizes have been confirmed, plans could change.

Community Police Officer Maryah Walker said the event offers a community building opportunity to get to know one another from local police officers, the fire department, local businesses and families to partake in fun activities together.

“It’s an opportunity to build connection and support one another through these trying and challenging times,” she said.

While start times are yet to be confirmed, the Chamber is holding the event at Lion’s Park from Sept. 18 to 21 with evening start times on Friday and Monday.

COVID-19 guidelines will be in effect. Masks will not be mandatory.

To register call Coleton Ethier at (306) 236-4447 or Regan Beck at (306) 240-4600.
