Trial dates have been set for a Melfort man charged in dangerous driving incidents in the city.

Gordon Webb was charged with operation of motor vehicle while prohibited, fail to remain at the scene of an accident, flight from police, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle in May.

At around 8:30 a.m. on May 20, attempts were made to stop a vehicle speeding on Broadway Ave. N. The vehicle failed to stop which resulted in police pursuing the vehicle.

A Melfort Combined Traffic Services Vehicle and the suspect vehicle were involved in a collision. The pursuit was called off a short time later due to public safety.

Further investigation led officers to locating the vehicle in the RM of Willow Creek, the suspect was arrested later that night and charges were laid.

Webb will go to trial on those matters on Dec. 10 in Melfort.

A similar incident in August led to more charges being laid against the 45-year-old.

At approximately 7:50 p.m. on Aug. 22, several complaints were made to the Melfort RCMP detachment about a vehicle driving dangerously around the city. The suspect vehicle was located but failed to stop for police.

The vehicle was located the next morning in the RM of Flett’s Springs. Webb was later arrested and charged with operation of a vehicle while prohibited, flight from police, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of breach of release order.

The August charges will go to trial on March 25 in Melfort.
