Local artists headline fall season at the Rawlinson

Autumn is just around the corner and The EA Rawlinson Centre for the Arts has announced its fall season list of shows.

People have been deprived of live entertainment over the past six months due to the pandemic and the fall season looks set to offer weeks of opportunity for P.A. residents to get moving in their seats, albeit with strict social distancing protocols.

According to the events coordinator of the Rawlinson Centre, Cara Stelmaschuk, the list of artists has made one of the most unique seasons that Prince Albert residents will get to experience.

“With this much local talent, and to show how much variety there is in Saskatchewan’s music scene is a success on its own,” Stelmaschuk said.

One of the performers taking the stage again in P.A. is local musician Wade Fehr, who will be the opening night act for the fall season on Oct. 22.

“I just announced that I’ll be releasing a six-song album, it’s titled Of Ghosts and Graveyards,” Fehr said. “It’s coming out Oct. 22 as well and is very Halloween themed.”

“For the people who have seen me before there will be a bunch of new songs, and for the people who haven’t heard me before it will be a great time to get a first listen.”

Another performer Prince Albert residents will see is Jack Semple from Regina. Semple will be playing an acoustic session on Oct. 24 which will include music off a recent recording.

“On fire, I will be on fire for those people,” Semple said. “I haven’t had a gig in over six months, so we are going to get up there and play our hearts out.”

One more night to mark down on the calendars is Halloween night when local band The Bush Pies will take the stage for a night of rock music.

“We’re a classic party band. We like to have a great time, so we are super happy to get back in front of other people,” John Germs of The Bush Pies said. “We’re definitely excited to get back in front of people with great vibes and have a great time.”

Stelmachuk is excited about having the lineup of shows at the Rawlinson, and getting people back through the doors on a regular basis.

“If people do look at the list and get really pumped and want to buy the whole season, we do have a season ticket price. They can actually save 10 per cent if they buy the whole thing all at once,” Stelmaschuk said.

The Rawlinson will have strict COVID regulations in place to keep everyone safe such as having separate entrance and exit doors to limit guests crossing paths, as well requiring guests to wear masks at all times while in the entrance and lobby. Hand sanitization stations will also be situated throughout the facility.

“If people are unsure about what it will be like and whether or not it will be safe then they can go online and look at the restrictions and procedures that we do have, and decide if they will feel safe in that situation,” Stelmaschuk said.
