Chamber to Host Virtual Forums for the 2020 Provincial and Municipal Elections

Sep 21, 2020 | 10:25 AM

The Prince Albert & District Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a suite of forums for the upcoming provincial and municipal elections this fall.

“We are excited to hold these forums,” said Elise Hildebrandt, CEO of the Chamber.

“It is vital that voters have as many opportunities as possible to learn about the candidates in the elections prior to making their choices. These forums will help provide that information to constituents in the Prince Albert district.”

According to Hildebrandt, the Chamber will livestream the forums to the Chamber Facebook page. The moderator will offer candidates the opportunity to respond to questions submitted from the public. Candidates will also have access to the individual questions submitted via social media during the livestream, and may reply as they wish following the forum.

The date for the provincial candidates’ forum has been set for Thursday, Oct 15th 2020. The livestream will activate at 6:30 PM.

A week of virtual forums is planned for the municipal elections beginning with Prince Albert Mayoral Candidates on Tuesday, October 27th. A forum for Ward Candidates follows on Wednesday, October 28th.

A forum for Reeve and Councillors of the R.M. of Prince Albert will occur on Thursday, October 29th and one for the R.M. of Buckland on Friday, October 30th.

“Hosting forums online will be a new experience for everyone involved. The Chamber expects that this format may allow even more people to become more interested and involved in the democratic process,” said Hildebrandt.

“We thank G. L. Mobile for providing a text line so the public can submit questions for the candidates at 306-961-3333. Advance questions may also be emailed to info@princealbertchamber.com.”

Information about the candidates can be found on the Chamber website under the Elections 2020 tab.
