Melfort business owner announces bid for seat on council

Muntain has owned TJ’s Pizza in Melfort since 2009, and was also a member of the Melfort Trade Alliance Board of Directors, but has since stepped down for her election bid. On top of volunteering at numerous events, Muntain and her family also billet for the Melfort Mustangs.

While owning a business and being involved in a number of events around Melfort, Muntain said everything she’s done up to this point has given her passion, and the skills needed to run. She added every area of Melfort needs to be covered on council.

“I think it’s really important to have representation on our board from each area of our city,” she said. “I proudly live on the south side of Melfort and I understand the needs people want addressed there.”

Muntain added Melfort has lots of potential to grow in the aspects of tourism and industry.

“We also need to maintain what makes us amazing,” she said. “The togetherness, the neighbours helping neighbours, the care and compassion for each other, these values are what I stand up for.”

As for the plan for campaigning, Muntain said she doesn’t plan on door knocking, but she does have some flyers that should be coming out soon and there’s some social media in the works as well. She already has a Facebook page, and says she’s available via email as well at taramuntain@sasktel.com. Muntain added she’s always been one to stop and talk to people out on the street or in stores as well, and will continue to do so while keeping distance.

She added she’s excited to be a part of a team if elected and wants to be a team player on city council.
