More than 100 grams of cocaine were seized by Stanley Mission RCMP on Wednesday.

That’s according to an RCMP media release, which states officers received a call at approximately 10 a.m. about an erratic driver in the community. Police located the suspect vehicle parked in front of a residence.

Police noted the male was spoken to briefly by officers and he provided a false name. After being told he was under arrest for impaired operation of a vehicle, the man fled on foot.

The release adds the male ran through several backyards and was secured by police a short time later. The man, however, allegedly resisted arrest and a physical altercation occurred.

Officers deployed a conducted energy weapon (CEW) and were able to take the male into custody without further incident. RCMP noted the male provided breath samples over the legal limit at the La Ronge RCMP detachment.

During a search of the vehicle, police located an open bottle of vodka, bear spray, a replica body armour vest, a large amount of cash and approximately 104 grams of suspected cocaine.

Brandon Keighley, 20, of La Ronge is charged with two counts of resisting/obstruction a peace officer, operation of a motor vehicle while impaired, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of failing to comply with conditions of a release order and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Keighley was held in custody and appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on Oct. 22. He was remanded and is scheduled to make his next appearance in La Ronge Provincial Court on Oct. 29.
