No delivery at slippery walkways from Canada Post

Canada Post is reminding Saskatchewan residents, including those in the Battlefords, that walkways to homes must be cleared in order for mail and package delivery.

The mail service is continuing a policy from years past of not putting mail carriers in harm’s way due to bad weather conditions. If snow or ice is present on the walkway, any incoming packages or mail will not be delivered to their doorstep. Heather Collins, operations supervisor in North Battleford, said this takes place throughout winter.

“A lot of slips, trips and falls happen in the winter and we want to make sure they can deliver safely moving forward,” she said.

Mail and packages not delivered will be dropped off at the local post office. Collins said if residents are able to keep their walkways regularly cleaned, they shouldn’t have an issue.
