The City of Melfort is hoping to make the community brighter this holiday season with a Christmas light contest

Registration is now open until Dec. 18 with winners to be announced on Dec. 21.

Recreation Programmer Shannon Marshall said light displays will be judged on quantity, creativity, and colour.

“We will pick two winners and will have two awesome prizes for them,” Marshall said. “Lights will be judged by our local Communities in Bloom committee.”

Nominate your own house, or a house you think is beautifully decorated by emailing pool@melfort.ca.

“I think everybody is looking to get into the holiday spirit especially amid the pandemic,” Marshall said. “It is something to look forward to and something that everyone can easily participate in within their own homes.”

The city has a goal of engaging as many people as possible with the contest while giving those that go above and beyond some extra recognition.

“We are just looking forward to everyone really getting into the holiday spirit and making our community a little bit brighter for everybody,” Marshall said.
