Semi-truck struck by train outside North Battleford

Nov 25, 2020 | 4:55 PM

A collision occurred between a train and semi truck late Wednesday afternoon, just outside North Battleford.

The semi-truck was heading south near Viterra, when it skidded across the railway crossing and a train hit between the trailers. The impact was strong enough that when the train came to a halt, the vehicles were well outside the crossing.

Neil Lascelle witnessed the tail end of the incident. He said he was stunned upon seeing the semi pushed out down the tracks by the train.

“I was watching the traffic ahead of me and all of a sudden, I’m driving by and that semi is going sideways down the ditch and the train is right in front of it” he said.

RCMP, ambulance and rescue units were on scene shortly after. At this time, it is not believed there were injuries to either the driver of the semi or the train’s conductor.

RCMP did not provide comment at the time of publication. More information will be provided when available.
