Dec 16, 2020 | 2:00 PM

The Battlefords Chamber of Commerce nominations committee has announced those up for a seat on the board of directors for the 2021-23 term.

Six candidates allowed their names to stand for a seat, meaning that an election was not required of members, to fulfill the six available openings on the 15-member board.

The following six will be recommended by the nominations committee for ratification to the current board of directors for a two-year term at its upcoming meeting:

Roy Dussault (Discovery Co-operative Ltd.), Kim Frolek (Loraas Environmental Services), Donna Lehmann (North Battleford Agencies Ltd.), Dallan Oberg (HRO Chartered Professional Accountants), Kayla Petersen, (Re/Max of the Battlefords), and Derek Schmidt (Bill & Don’s Men’s Wear).

Oberg, Petersen, and Schmidt serve as incumbents at the board position.

Chief operating officer with the Chamber, Linda Machniak, said it’s great to see another diverse range of businesses stand for a seat on the board.

“We have some professional folks, we have some entrepreneurs, and business owners, so that certainly works well for the staff, knowing that we’ve got a really broad range and a good spectrum of the community covered,” she said.

“I also very much appreciate that we have some new folks who are joining us, but also some who have experience on the board as well,” Machniak continued. “It makes for a good mix of ideas and a good mix of discussion.”

Other directors who have one year remaining on a term to serve, or who will receive an executive appointment for 2021 include:

Gord Brewerton (Battlefords Publishing Ltd./News Optimist), Tisha Carriere (Gold Eagle Lodge), Alexis Christensen (Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs Inc.), Terry Gagne (SaskTel), Cassandra Germsheid (Kerr’s Cleaners Inc.), Misty Lavertu (Downtown North Battleford BID), Dana Rissling (Innovation Credit Union), Harris Sutherland (Gold Eagle Casino), and Melanie Roberts (North West College).

The new board members for the 2021-23 term will join in at the annual general meeting and begin their duties in February, 2021.
