A Melfort woman has been sentenced in relation to a string of break and enters.

In Melfort Provincial Court on Dec. 17, 24-year-old Melissa Shmyr was given a three-month conditional discharge for possession of property obtained by crime. Shmyr also had a stay of proceedings for her assault charge.

The charges stem from when Melfort RCMP received a complaint of a verbal altercation on Feb. 20 in the afternoon. RCMP found several pieces of stolen property, including driver’s licences, health cards, and credit cards in the vehicle. A release said police linked some of the stolen property to several thefts and break and enters in the Melfort area that took place over three weeks.

Taylor Lariviere, 28, of Prince Albert, was also charged with assault and possession of property obtained by crime, in addition to identity theft and two counts of break and enter during the same string of break and enters.
