Santa Claus visits families in Prince Albert to provide Christmas cheer

Dec 20, 2020 | 4:43 PM

Santa Claus was in Prince Albert on Saturday spreading holiday cheer with a Santa pop-by with Christmas less than a week away.

Saturday afternoon, jolly old St. Nicholas went to 30 different houses to wave at children through their windows or visit outside at a distance.

Santa had help from Mrs. Claus as she drove him around the city while the reindeer were at home resting.

When asked why he decided to visit the residents of P.A. he said it’s the Christmas thing to do.

“Everyone’s locked down in the pandemic phase and you know people are needing that Christmas boost right now,” Claus said. “Plus, I’m usually busy this time of year and not so much now so it kind of really helps my spirits.”

He explained he’s never done anything like this before and it took a lot of coordinating to make sure he got to visit all the homes he promised to visit, but he did say he had a lot of fun.

While out he said many younglings were excited to see him.

“Of course, there was the odd one that got a little scared or if they’re younger they don’t quite understand, but for the most part if they’re a little older and are still believers, they’re happy to see me and are jumping up and down,” he explained. “I got a lot of texts later from people saying their kid was talking about Santa, you know just excited.”

Claus extended a thank you to all the children and families he visited, as well as to Mrs. Claus for coordinating the event and putting up with him all day.
