Additional Christmas mass times at Melfort Catholic Church to abide by COVID-19 restrictions

Dec 24, 2020 | 3:00 PM

The Roman Catholic Church in Melfort has added mass times for the holiday season in an effort to accommodate attendees. Needless to say things will be very different in line with COVID-19 protocols.

Our Lady of Consolation will have Christmas Eve mass at 4 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 9 p.m. and Christmas Day mass will be at 10 a.m., 11:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m.

Each mass will have a maximum of 30 people who need to pre-register for their seat to abide by public health guidelines.

The mass times allow for cleaning in between and there are protocols in place on the flow of traffic through the building of worship as well.

Communion can still be received by parishioners as well but the priest goes to the pews rather than the other way around as in a typical non-covid mass.

Other mass times throughout the holiday season include Saturday, Dec. 26 at 5 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 27 at 10 a.m. There will be two masses on New Years day at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

There are some masses that are live streamed for those that aren’t comfortable with attending in-person through the Prince Albert Diocese office on their website. Area parishes have also listed their mass times and plans on the PA Diocese site as well.

The office is open Tuesday to Friday in the morning for booking a mass time throughout the Christmas season and beyond at 306.752.5518.
