Meadow Lake man arrested following hostage situation
A man is facing multiple charges following an incident involving a heavy police presence at a residence in Meadow Lake on Wednesday morning. He is 31-year-old Tyson Eldridge from Meadow Lake.
On December 23, officers responded to a call around 4 a.m. reporting an adult male and female being held at gunpoint for nearly two hours at a residence located on the 300 block of Second Street East. Upon arrival, Meadow Lake and Loon Lake RCMP secured the residence and the surrounding area around the 200 block of Third Avenue East to maintain public safety.
Initial police intel revealed the suspect to be a male with a history of violent offences. As the call to police reported the suspect carrying firearms, additional RCMP resources were called in to assist with the situation, including Meadow Lake Traffic Services, the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and North Battleford Police Dog Services.
After failed attempts to convince the man to surrender, police were able to enter the residence and safely remove an adult male, an adult female and a female youth.
