Royal LePage Hodgins Realty in Melfort makes generous community donations ahead of Christmas

Royal LePage Hodgins Realty got into the giving spirit leading up to Christmas.

The Real Estate company in Melfort provided over $4000 to charities and organizations in the area in their 12 days of Christmas giveaway.

Agent and partner Joline Ozeroff said they were also able to do some random acts of kindness for the RCMP, paramedics, and fire department.

“Coming to the end of the year, we were happy with the success we had and we wanted to share that with as many organizations as we could,” Ozeroff said. “We wanted to say thank you to different people and especially those who put themselves at risk through all of this.”

Royal LePage typically gives back to the community throughout the year but found there were less charities asking for help with being limited to the types of fundraisers they could do.

The first two months of the pandemic saw a stand still for real estate much like every other sector but then things really picked up.

“I think it was the uncertainty and people were nervous beyond what was happening with the market and also having people coming into their homes,” Ozeroff said. “Once May hit and there were less restrictions, the market itself increased quite a bit and it was steady through the summer, fall and into the end of the year here.”

The 12 days of giveaways was all about thanking the community for their efforts and also for their support.

On the first day, $300 worth of toys were donated to the Salvation Army Christmas toy drive.

Day two was a personalized cake for the RCMP and on day three, the local private care home for mental illness were treated to a Dairy Queen gift card for a meal and ice cream party.

The Melfort Food Bank was on the receiving end on day four with a $500 donation and another $500 was donated to the Melfort Hospital for purchasing thermometers through the pandemic.

Paramedics and fire department were the focus of day six with baskets full of treats and goodies.

Day seven was a random draw of a gift card for clients of Royal LePage Hodgins Realty.

On the eighth day, North East Outreach and Support Services was presented with a $500 cheque.

The public was then asked to nominated a deserving person on the ninth day for a gift card and a draw was made at random.

Two large bags of dog and cat food were delivered to the North East SPCA on the 10th day of giveaways.

Another random giveaway on the 11th day was for those who follow the Royal LePage Hodgins Realty Facebook page.

Last but not least, the 12th and final day of giveaways was the biggest.

“We were proud to present a cheque to the Kinsmen and Kinettes of Melfort for TeleMiracle which was a donation of $2,000,” Ozeroff said.

“My parents were Kinsmen and Kinettes so I understand the quality of work and how important it is and where it goes,” Ozeroff said. “We felt it was a great time to try and help stretch things out as much as we could locally and within the province.”

Ozeroff said that 2021 looks pretty good and in real estate, there are expectations of things staying strong.

“It is a great time for buyers to take opportunity and prices have not dropped but have had to become more competitive but are getting good response,” Ozeroff said. “Right now, we are low on product so there are a lot of buyers waiting for that right home on the market for them.”

Val Ozeroff has been the owner of the company since 2003, but has been practicing in real estate for 10 year prior to that. Joline has been practicing since 2008, became an associate broker in 2012 and as of 2020 became a partner in the company.

On behalf of herself and her mother, Ozeroff wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

“We look forward to starting 2021 strong and healthy,” she said.
