Hope and Future: Nipawin believes in emerging with a clear direction beyond pandemic

The Town of Nipawin and its new council still needs to engage in strategic planning and determine if a new direction is needed.

However, there are still some similar focus points for 2021.

Nipawin Mayor Rennie Harper said council’s strategic plan to focus on a “town for the people” include continued work with Reconciliation Nipawin, its green spaces such as tree inventory and the community garden, its MEEP projects, and process to decommission the BARWA landfill.

Harper’s message of hope to Nipawin residents is that change is constant and the coronavirus pandemic will pass.

“I’m the eternal optimist,” Harper said. “Those changes towards that end will need us all to work together. We’ll need to be patient with each other and support each other with kind words and positive reinforcement. If we do that, nothing is impossible. We’re better together and we will emerge stronger and with clearer direction than we went in.”
