Melfort Fire responds to Christmas Day house fire

Melfort Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire on Christmas Day.
Crews were called to the home on Whitley Street shortly before 9 p.m. where smoke was seen coming from the basement.
Fire Chief Shaun Stewart told northeastNOW that the fire started from an electrical short from some lights and a couch was caught on fire, but it did not grow passed that.
Everyone was out of the home when crews arrived on scene and there was no structural damage to the home.
