Organizers of the Napatak Ramble are hopeful a festival can be held in 2021.

“I think we all have hopes this world is going to get back to normal soon and, if it does, we definitely want to be prepared for a 2021 festival,” Founder Colin Jolly said. “If we’re not able, at least we will still have the bands in place to do a virtual Ramble like we did last year.”

In 2020, the Napatak Ramble was held via a Facebook Live event as the economy was just beginning to reopen in a number of stages. Those who were invited to take part such as musicians and craftspeople sent in a video of themselves, which was then compiled into a longer video to air online. Jolly estimates more than 5,000 people viewed it.

There will be no tryouts for the Napatak Ramble and those who were cancelled in 2020 were invited to participate. He said a lot of the bands have already confirmed, adding the lineup will be similar to last year.

“We’re going to roll with the punches and see what happens,” Jolly said. “Music definitely helps people get through time, especially times we’re in right now. I feel the Napatak Ramble has an amazing sense of community. It seems like lots of people in the community like this event and like bringing their families. It’s important for it to keep going.”

As for the festival site, Jolly said its become a bit overgrown since the event was held there in 2020. If the festival does occur, he noted they will need volunteers to help prepare the space.

The festival is set for July 2 and 3.
