Town of Nipawin reminding residents of processes for using cross country skis, other equipment

The mild weather to begin 2021 has led many people to get outside and try out activities in their respective communities.

In Nipawin, residents have been given the opportunity to enjoy the trails at the Evergreen Centre by trying out cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and snow feet with equipment provided. Director of Parks and Recreation Chelsea Corrigan said lots of residents have already been using the equipment and trails.

“It’s been awesome to see people getting out and enjoying the nice weather that we are having this year,” she said. “We just want to make sure that people are aware that it’s a one time use per day.”

Corrigan said they want to make sure everyone who wants to try it out gets that opportunity.

The process for using the equipment has people message the number that is on the lockers at the Evergreen Centre. The users will get a code to open the locker and must sign out the equipment and sign it back when they return and disinfect it.

“When they send us a message, we do ask then for their name and contact information,” Corrigan said. “So that we can track them down if they want to continue enjoying them for a couple days.”

The Town of Nipawin also has snow bikes available for use, and for those interested in using those, you’re asked to call the Evergreen Centre to set up a time.
