After nearly 40 years in the Dorintosh community, the Pevach family has announced they have sold the Parkland Hotel.

In a post on Facebook, the Pevach family shared the announcement while reflecting on the history and sentimental value of the hotel. The post explains the reasoning behind the sale came down to the family wanting to begin the next chapter of their lives.

“I’ve been working there since I was 19, and I thought it was time for a lifestyle change, a career change and see what the rest of the world has to offer,” Brent Pevach said.

Brent had taken on the responsibility of running the family-owned hotel shortly after the passing of his father, Don, in 2009. Before his passing, Don had told the family; including his children, Shawn, Kim, Brent, and Katie, that he wanted them to sell the hotel, but they opted to keep the family legacy running.

“When dad was sick, he told us to sell it and we didn’t listen to him. Brent wanted to run it. We all owned it, but Brent ran it and has been there the whole time almost without a choice. No one else was going to run it, and he stepped up and did it,” Shawn said.

With the sale completed, Brent and Shawn stated they have been informed by the new owners that they plan to keep the spirit of the hotel intact as they move forward—an important factor that played into the sale as stated in the post on social media.

The Pevachs said they are grateful for the love and support they have received over the years, adding the community made the hotel as beloved as it is.

“We’d like to thank all of the staff that have worked there over the last 40 years, all of the people that supported the bar and made it what it was, the community that supported everybody. That’s what made it what it was.”
