More positive cases of COVID-19 are popping up in the community of Watrous.

Mayor of Watrous John Gunderson told northeastNOW the town is coming together to limit the spread of the virus.

“Some of our local businesses are taking the initiative for the safety of their employees and for their customers, to temporarily close their doors,” Gunderson said. “Hopefully that is not too long of a time period.”

Many businesses are still able to offer curbside pick-up at this time.

The town office is also currently closed to the public as well as recreational facilities including the gym and arena until further notice.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority has declared an outbreak at Model Meats in the community. The Watrous Co-op Food Store also had an employee test positive for COVID-19.
