RE/MAX Nipawin closes as long-time owner set to retire

Mar 21, 2021 | 8:00 AM

RE/MAX Nipawin has closed as its owner Linda Swehla is retiring.

Swehla has worked in the real estate industry since 2002 and has listed over 1,000 properties.

“I’m proud of being able to help people find a property,” Swehla said. “I sold some properties three or four times. Sometimes it’s really hard to sell in our area and to get the amount of money that you need from a property. It was really good being able to help people sell.”

RE/MAX Nipawin was started by Swehla and she has worked with hundreds of people.

“People came to me for advice,” Swehla said. “I learned a lot.”

Swehla believes she will officially retire by July after tying up loose ends and finishing some paperwork, but she will not be listing any more properties.

“It’s time to retire,” Swehla added. “I want to travel and visit family. Hopefully, we will be able to travel soon. I like doing things in the yard. I don’t know what else I’ll do.”

Swehla said she was sad that she couldn’t have a big party to celebrate her retirement and the COVID-19 pandemic didn’t affect her decision.
