Western Development Museum launches first virtual escape room

Residents of the Battlefords and area are invited to experience a new side of the Western Development Museum (WDM) this spring, and through the summer.

The local WDM has launched a virtual escape room, available for residents from now until Aug. 31.

The online event will allow people to participate in a range of brain busters and puzzles from the comfort of their own home, through an online link that features a virtual layout of the WDM’s Heritage Farm and Village.

Within the program, participants will be on the quest to find six lost keys, hidden throughout the virtual Heritage grounds.

Education and public programs coordinator with the museum, Cheryl Stewart-Rahm said the activity is designed to take about 45 minutes to complete and can be done from the comfort of home, making it something the whole family can take part in and enjoy together.

“We feel like this is going to be good for families and we hope that it challenges them, while at the same time they have a great time doing it,” Stewart-Rahm said.

“We were trying to think of ways we could continue to engage our visitors, our volunteers, and our supporters virtually because we can’t do any in-person visits, so we’re very excited to launch the very first WDM escape room.”
