A Melfort man involved in two 2020 dangerous driving incidents has learned his fate.

Gordon Webb, 45, has been sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in custody after being found guilty of numerous charges. He also received a 10-year driving prohibition, a 20-year firearms prohibition, a $9,769 restitution order, and an $800 victim surcharge. Webb was in Melfort Provincial Court on April 12 and 13 to hear his fate.

The first of two incidents took place in May of 2020 after a vehicle was found speeding on Broadway Ave. North in Melfort. The vehicle didn’t stop, leading to a pursuit through Melfort. A police cruiser and the suspect vehicle was involved in a collision in the incident and the pursuit was called off a short time later due to public safety.

A video obtained by northeastNOW in May appears to have the suspect vehicle with significant damage, as well as one of the MCTS vehicles. (Submitted video/Jagg Carlson)

The suspect vehicle was located later in the RM of Willow Creek and Webb was arrested later that night. He was charged with Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Prohibited, Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident, Flight from Police, and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

The second incident took place in August of 2020 when there were complaints of a vehicle driving dangerously in Melfort. Police located the vehicle, but it did not stop for police. The suspected vehicle was located the next morning in the RM of Flett’s Springs, and Webb was later charged and arrested.

Webb’s charges for this incident were Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Prohibited, Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and two counts of Breach of Release Order.
