Drive-thru clinics in the Battlefords, Lloydminster, Mayor gets COVID shot

Apr 23, 2021 | 3:00 PM

Residents in the Battlefords have a few hours to get to the drive-thru immunization at 391 Yellowhead Highway, while those in the border city will now have the weekend and more.

Lloydminster’s clinic at 5521 49 Avenue, the Exhibition Grounds, will take in recipients from 9:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m., today through April 27. The Battlefords clinic closes at 5:30 p.m. this evening.

As per information from the Saskatchewan Health Authority, drive-thru clinics remain on a first come, first served basis with no appointment necessary, while those with booked appointments already are encouraged to cancel those if attending the drive-thru.

Vaccine supply remains limited, which means the clinics may close early if they have administered all product available. Recipients should also note that all of the three approved vaccines will be in use.

Mayor receives vaccine

Earlier this week, Mayor David Gillan of North Battleford received the AstraZeneca vaccine at the Dekker Centre for Performing Arts.

“As soon as you are eligible for the vaccine, I encourage everyone to book their appointment and get the first available vaccine,” Gillan said.

The vaccine clinic at the Dekker is being run by the Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs Inc. (BATC) in association with Indigenous Services Canada and the SHA.

As of April 23, 382,135 vaccines have been administered in the province with active cases now at 2,463.
