Spring Cleanup Week begins Monday in Melfort

Monday, April 26 marks the first day of Spring Cleanup Week in the City of Melfort and it will run until May 1.

During that week, fees at the landfill will be waived for yard and garden refuse according to Melfort’s Director of Development, Planning, and Community Relations Brent Lutz.

“Also during that week, if you bag your yard refuse in clear plastic bags and leave them curbside on your regular pickup day, our contractor will collect those from you that day,” Lutz said.

The same applies to branches as well, but they do need to be bundled and cut no longer than four feet.

City crews will be out and about throughout the week around the commercial districts, cleaning boulevards and ditches. Lutz added that anyone can help and encouraged school classes, sports teams, or community groups to get in on the action as well.

“We encourage everybody in the city to do their part,” Lutz said. “Whether it be in their neighbourhood, around their business.”
