Go Fund Me page created to help family following house fire

Supporters have created a GoFundMe Page to help a family left bereft following a house fire at the 2300 block of 100 Street North in North Battleford on May 13.

Linda Lefevre and her three children lost their home and all their possessions in the sudden fire.

Family friend, Santanna Belyk, who created the fundraiser page, said to add to the tragedy, the family’s garage, which escaped the fire, was broken into the evening following the blaze, and the valuables were stolen as well.

Belyk said on the GoFundMe page that her friend Lefevre lost her home for her family and her small business in the short time it took for the fire to destroy the building.

She is asking people who are can to make a donation.

“The GoFundMe page was started to help with immediate basic necessities,” Belyk said. “She did have insurance but it will take time for all that, and to rebuild her home and [everything]. So we just wanted to help her out… She’s really been hit hard. Anything people can give, it’s appreciated.”

Funds raised will help the mom and her kids to replace their clothing, and other basic essential items they have lost.

“I encourage everyone who can to support her and her children, with the devastating reality of losing everything,” Belyk said on her GoFundMe page. “Thank you all so much for the calls and messages to her, and through me and her family. Everyone is safe, and that is the most important thing.”

The GoFundMe page has so far over $3,000 in donations.

Belyk told battlefordsNOW she is also looking at starting a bottle drive in the future to help the family.

Lefevre is still shaken up from the tragedy.

“It was awful… It was quick,” she told battlefordsNOW. “You don’t think you are going to leave to go to the store and come back to find your whole life is gone.”

Lefevre said she is grateful for everyone’s kindness.

“The support in general from everybody has been amazing,” she said.
