Five men charged after two incidents at Nipawin home

Five men have been charged after two separate incidents at a home in Nipawin.

RCMP were called to the home in the 100 block of Seymour Street for an assault complaint on May 18 shortly before 4 a.m.

Crews were met by an individual with a gun before retreating into the home and discarding the gun. The residence was contained, the occupants were arrested, and one man was transported to hospital.

A loaded sawed-off firearm, and three other illegally possessed firearms were seized from the residence.

Later than same morning, shortly before 7 a.m., there were complaints of a break and enter. Two men were arrested after a brief foot chase.

The charged individuals are from Nipawin and Cumberland House.

Travis Trites, 37, of Nipawin has been charged with one count of Aggravated Assault, two counts of Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited, Possession of a Firearm without a valid licence, two counts of Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, and one count of Failure to Comply with Release Order.

Brennan Carriere, a 42-year-old from Cumberland House is charged with Aggravated Assault, Discarding a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon without having a Licence, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Resisting Arrest, and Failure to Comply with Release Order.

Alvin Thomas, 38, of Cumberland House faces charges of Break and Enter, Resisting Arrest, Failure to Comply with Release Order, Obstruct Public Officer, Identity Fraud, and Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine).

Adam Settee of Cumberland House faces similar charges. The 31-year-old is charged with Break and Enter, Resisting Arrest, and Failure to Comply with Release Order.

Brain Pelly, a 35-year-old from Nipawin is also charged with Aggravated Assault. His next court date is June 30.

The other four individuals will be in court again on May 26.
