NESD begins work on vaccine plan for schools in region

The North East School Division has begun work on their vaccine rollout plan for their schools.

Director of Education Don Rempel said they have sent out forms to students 12 years and older to help determine how many students will be taking advantage of the schools vaccine plan.

“Depending on the amount of consent forms that are returned by next Thursday (June 3),” Rempel told northeastNOW. “We will then move forward with the details of where those clinics will occur.”

Clinics will only offer the Pfizer vaccine and Rempel said they are providing links to information on the Government of Saskatchewan website for details on the vaccine.

“There’s information of the Saskatchewan government website under the ‘Vaccination Details for Youth 12 and over’,” he said. “And that’s where we are referencing everyone.”

Rempel added that they have also sent out forms to the home schooling students to participate in the vaccine clinics if they so choose.

It is a voluntary program and school-aged children are still able to use the current vaccine resources like clinics, pharmacies, and more.

Clinics will take place through NESD during the first few weeks of June.
