Stanley Mission RCMP have charged a woman with unlawful possession of alcohol.

According to a media release, on June 5 at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle while conducting a traffic patrol on Highway 915.

After allegedly seeing alcohol in plain sight, police searched the vehicle, which had four adults and one child in it. They seized 19 66-ounce bottles of whiskey, four 66-ounce bottles of vodka, 10 two-litre bottles of cider and an unloaded firearm. Some of the alcohol and the firearm were located under the child’s seat.

As a result of this investigation, an adult female from Stanley Mission was charged with one count of unsafe storage of a firearm and one count of unlawful possession of beverage alcohol. She will appear in court in Stanley Mission on Aug. 10.

This is the fifth unlawful possession of beverage alcohol charge laid by Stanley Mission RCMP this year. Any information relating to the illegal sale or transportation of alcohol should be reported immediately to your nearest RCMP detachment.
