RCMP Report: Warrant issued for for North Battleford male

Jun 9, 2021 | 3:31 PM

Update: Creedance Stone has been arrested and charged.

Battlefords RCMP have issued a warrant for the arrest of a 23-year-old male for pointing a firearm.

The charge for Creedance Stone of North Battleford stems from an incident on Sunday evening at Red Pheasant Cree Nation. Sgt. Neil Tremblay said they’ve had some previous dealings with Stone that weren’t serious, but they are always concerned following incidents involving firearms.

“Anytime you see a charge involved with a firearm, people should be made aware,” he said.

Anyone who has information on Stone’s whereabouts can call the Battlefords RCMP Detachment or Crime Stoppers.

Tuesday arrest among spike in assault calls

A man from Regina faces multiple charges stemming from an incident in Battlefords Provincial Park Tuesday evening. Police were called there shortly before 10 p.m., where a woman was reportedly struck by the 27-year-old male with a gun case, before he pointed a firearm at her. Members found she sustained minor injuries and then arrested the suspect.

His charges include assault, uttering threats, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a weapon contrary to an order. He is still in custody and is scheduled to appear in North Battleford court at 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

The detachment had 32 calls for assault investigations this week, ranging from minor to serious. Tremblay said this is high for the region and something that the detachment will be keeping an eye on.

“Any time you get up to that number it’s pretty concerning, that’s four or five a day,” he said. “Hopefully that number goes down in the coming weeks, but that is concerning.”

Stolen vehicles, missing persons, COVID violations

In the report, Tremblay noted that the detachment responded to 477 calls overall, a decrease from the previous week. Among the total was five missing persons cases (two of which are still active), five break and enters and five stolen vehicles.

Those include a grey 2003 Ford F350 (license plate 973-LXC) reported stolen from the 1600 block of 102 Street in North Battleford on June 1, as well as a blue 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer (license plate 440-MGC) reported stolen from the 1400 block of 101st Street in North Battleford on June 5.

There were also two charges related to impaired driving, 30 Mental Health Act investigations and three COVID-19 violation investigations in regards to the current Public Health Mandate. One individual has pending charges for an alleged violation of quarantine protocols.

Police are urging anyone with information on any incident from the past week to call the detachment or Crime Stoppers.
