Proposed business complex to be built on Second Avenue West

Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation (PBCN) will be looking to expand their economic footprint in the City of Prince Albert with a new business development located at Second Avenue West across the street from Lakeland Ford.

City councilors unanimously supported their development permit and the building will include four leasable commercial units, three of which are intended to be leased as offices.

“We have been very committed to the Prince Albert area,” PBCN Group of Companies CEO, Trevor Ives told paNOW.

Ives said they are planning to start construction this fall with the hope of being done in the second quarter of 2022.

“We certainly have some tenants that are committed to moving in,” Ives said. “They’re all either professional office or retail tenants.

“It’ll certainly create some jobs in Prince Albert and there are some tenants that are relocating in the city.”

PBCN owns a component of many different businesses across Prince Albert including the Super 8, and two different Petro Canada gas stations.

They also had their grand opening for the Hilltop Carwash on Monday this week.

Coun. Tony Head was in support of the project, saying it would add value to the area, and residents as well.

“It’s an expansion to our city. Every time you see a new building go up, we’re growing, expanding,” Head told paNOW. “There will be business done out of there and I look forward to the new tenants that will be occupying those spaces.

“The idea is there, they’re starting to put the plans together. Definitely excited to see how it looks when they start breaking ground.”

The application for the business complex has been reviewed by many city departments including the Department of Public Works, Financial Services, and the Fire and Emergency Services with no concerns.
