Liliidae in Melfort to host local makers and vendors at summer market

Local makers and vendors will be on hand at the Liliidae Market this Saturday in Melfort.

This is the second summer market hosted by the design and decor business on Burrows Ave. W.

Owner Julie Schmale told northeastNOW the market will be bigger than last summer and the goal is to grow the event each year.

“We are happy to have a couple new things this market and it is a nice event that is local and people can go to without travelling too far,” Schmale said.

Vendors include Glendenning Honey, Bamwood Trimmings, Potstand Company, Potter and Clay, Mel-City Floral, Wild Poppy Baking, The Cowboy Project, Bad Lands Coffee, and Phil Fred with homemade artisan bread.

“We have brought in quite a bit more of our decor items,” Schmale said. “Things that are trendy for 2021, things that are long lasting, nice looking decor items so we are excited for that.”

The Cowboy Project out of Swift Current is new to the summer market. The project was started by a lady who’s child had cancer and has now been declared cancer-free.

“They make t-shirts, sweaters, and hats that are nice, stylish and trendy looking and all of the proceeds go to families like them who have battled through having kids with cancer,” Schmale said. “It is just a great project to support.”

Hand sanitizing and masking is still required at the market that runs from 9 a.m. to noon.

“We have compacted it into the morning so the early birds can come early and the ones that like to sleep in can make it before lunch,” Schmale said. “It also won’t take up the whole day, you can still make it to the lake or whatever else you have going on.”

Schmale said the back wall painting is still slated to get underway and completed this summer.
