Building destroyed in Birch Hills fire

A building in Birch Hills was destroyed by fire late Friday.

The Birch Hills Fire Department responded to the blaze, assisted by Muskoday Volunteer Fire Department.

Birch Hills Fire Department Fire Chief Lyle Evans told paNOW it was a garage owned by a forklift company in town and said the building was “a complete write off.”

He explained the building was fully engulfed in flames upon arrival and the building was torn down to help finish put out the fire.

Birch Hills had 18 members on scene as well as two members of the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency. Crews were on scene for six hours.

In a Facebook post the Muskoday FD said it had 14 crew on site and helped stop the fire from spreading to other structures.

There were no injuries nor was there anyone inside the building during the fire, Chief Evans said.

The fire has been contained and the cause is under investigation.
