Trial dates set in P.A. homicide cases

A pair of high profile court cases in Prince Albert, are one step closer to resolution.

On Friday, trial dates were determined for both Kenny Morin and Silas Starblanket.

Morin, 21, is facing a charge of second degree murder in the March, 2020 death of David Maxemiuk.

The 61-year-old, longtime city bus driver, was assaulted and robbed outside his garage and died in hospital five days later.

Morin had originally elected to be tried by a jury, but has since re-elected to be tried by judge alone. The trial has been scheduled to run from Jan. 17 to Jan. 28, 2022.

In August 2019, 19-year-old Evander Sanderson, was stabbed multiple times in Prince Albert’s midtown area and later died in hospital.

The man charged with second degree murder, Silas Starblanket, was originally supposed to be tried by a jury last April, but due to COVID restrictions, the proceedings were postponed.

The new dates have been set for Dec. 14 to Dec. 17, 2021. Starblanket has also re-elected to be tried by judge alone.
