Fire ban in effect for many municipalities in the region

Jul 2, 2021 | 2:27 PM

Due to the continuing hot, dry weather many municipalities in the region currently have a fire ban in effect until further notice.

The RM of Meota, The Village of Meota, the Village of Cochin, and the Town of Hafford are all asking people to comply with the bans in place.

Any burning of outdoor fires is not permitted as well as controlled burns, fireworks, camp fires and fire pits.

Town of Hafford Mayor Victoria Moses says the fire ban for the municipality will remain in place until conditions start to improve.

“[With] the record highs today and the dryness, we need rain badly,” she said.

Environment Canada issued a heat warning Friday, July 2 due to the intense heat. Temperatures in the North Battleford area were forecast for a high of 37 Celsius during the day.
