Two dead following water-related incident at Turtle Lake

Two people are dead following a water incident on Turtle Lake on July 3.

Turtleford RCMP responded to a call of two people in distress off the shore of Thunderchild First Nation. According to the investigation, after a 51-year-old female had been swimming and began to struggle, a 60-year-old male went in to assist and began to struggle as well. Others nearby were able to bring the pair to shore, but they were unresponsive and declared deceased by EMS.

Both the male and female are from Thunderchild First Nation and their families have been notified. Police said no foul play is suspected.
