P.A. Royals finish weekend off strong
The Prince Albert Royals split their four-game weekend road trip against the Unity Cardinals and Lloydminster Twins of the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League AA.
On Saturday, the Royals lost a double-header to the Unity Cardinals 23-7 the first game and 13-12 in the following match.
In the opening game of the weekend the Royals lost despite bring in four runs in the third inning. Nic Nye started the game for the Royals on the mound, however, he only played one-third of an inning allowing 10 runs on four hits. He did strike out one. Dawson Paterson, Jack Mortimer and Cody Morash all had their hand in relief pitching. The Royals came out of the game with nine total hits.
In the following game against Unity the Royals lost the lead in the fifth inning to drop a close match 13-12. The biggest inning for the Royals came in the second inning when they scored six runs. Josh LaClaire was named the starting pitcher and played four and two-thirds innings striking out five batters and allowing 13 runs on 10 hits. Ben Lefebvre came into the game as relief.
