North West College President and CEO Jay Notay has resigned his position for a new posting in Alberta.

Notay is leaving NWC to become president and CEO of Keyano College, located in Fort McMurray, on October 4. The NWC Board of Governors made the announcement via a press release Friday morning.

During his time with the college, Notay helped advancing several of the board’s priorities since his start in 2018. These include a feasibility and business case for a new campus in the Battlefords, establishing local partnerships, programming for international students in fall 2022 and navigating the challenges of the pandemic. The statement from the board also mentioned Notay’s work as chair of CEO Council and co-chair of the Association of Saskatchewan Regional Colleges over the past two years, contributing to the college’s profile in the province.

Priorities will continue to be facility related or financial in nature for the immediate future and the board is appointing Director Of Finance and Administration Tanis Studney as acting president and CEO on October 2. A national search process for the long-term hire is underway and Notay will continue in his role until October 1.

Board chair Byron Merkosky thanked Notay for his achievements and wished him the best in his new role.

“We would also like to thank all of our community partners for their continued support of the college through Jay’s leadership, and we are looking forward to building upon our already strong relationships going forward,” he said in the release. “The board is confident that the college will continue to thrive through the leadership of Ms. Studney and Director of Programs Melanie Roberts during this period of transition.”

The board also mentioned Notay’s leadership in managing balanced budgets over the past year.
