La Ronge’s Jayme Woodhouse Mckenzie has been training dogs and providing other services out of her home for about 18 months. Now, she’s nearly ready to open a retail location.

Pawsitive Attitude Dog Training will soon relocate to a rented space at 135 Finlayson St. (behind Giant Tiger) in September. Woodhouse McKenzie, who is a certified dog trainer, offers obedience, service and therapy dog training, as well as walking and pet sitting.

She also currently sells a range of products for cats and dogs.

“We’re just doing renovations right now because there’s lots of updating and everything to do, but it should be open by the end of the month, hopefully, and I’ll put more exact details on my social media so everyone knows,” Woodhouse McKenzie said.

Woodhouse McKenzie is excited for the new retail space as she has been working hard to expand services for dogs because of the current lack thereof in the tri-communities. She mentioned a goal of hers it to expand it even further and one day have employees working for her.

“Right now, it’s just me. I’ve been doing it all on my own,” Woodhouse McKenzie said. “I hope to try and get some grants, so I can expand the training centre a lot more and have it so there can be a lot more animals in at a time.”

As a young entrepreneur at the age of 22, Woodhouse McKenzie noted there has been difficulties since she started her business, but added she motivated to do what she enjoys for a living.

She also credits tri-community residents for the continued support to enable her to set up a retail space as, just on her own, she’s busy every day.
