North Stars to hold billet meeting Wednesday in preparation for season ahead

Aug 17, 2021 | 4:00 PM

The Battlefords North Stars will be holding a billet meeting Wednesday, Aug. 18 at the Access Communications Centre (formerly the Civic Centre).

Taking place upstairs in the Raptor Lounge, the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and is for all experienced and new billets to attend and will cover preparations in lead up to the fall and the start of the hockey season.

“We’re going into a new year, and with COVID and everything that’s happened, and is still happening, it’s just a good time to come, hear what the new year will look like, what we’re doing as a team and what the expectations are for the family and all that going forward,” Stars’ billet coordinator, Kyle Kellgren said.

While the primary focus is to cover the information and expectations for those who are billeting this season, Kellgren said the meeting is also open for those who may have considered possibly billeting this season or in the future, as the team is still in search of more billets prior to the fall.

“Anyone who’s interested that may have ever wondered what it was like to be a billet is also welcome to attend,” he said. “We’re pretty close to what we would need for the season, but we could definitely use a few more which would make life a bit easier, just to make sure we’re covered to get all the kids here once we get going.”

Those planning to attend the billet meeting are asked to RSVP ahead of time by emailing coach@northstars.ca.

The North Stars fall camp is scheduled to begin Aug. 27 with preseason to start the week of Sept. 6. The Stars’ regular season opener will be played on home ice on Sept. 24 at the Access Communications Centre versus Kindersley.
