Meadow Lake Parks and Recreation bringing back flag football
Following last year’s overwhelmingly positive turnout, the Meadow Lake Parks and Recreation department has decided to bring back its flag football program for another year.
As early as next week, parents will have the opportunity to register their children to participate in flag football. The first activity is a three-hour camp on Thursday, August 26.
Manager Regan Beck explained the camp serves to educate the participants on the rules of the game, teach them fundamental skills and put them through drills that will help them develop skills and abilities to improve their gameplay. Abbreviated games will be set up once the lessons have concluded.
“Last year, we kind of put the kids on the field and let them have fun, but flag football has its own set of rules and different skill sets that kids can work on,” Beck said. “We’re bringing out representatives from Football Saskatchewan, and they’re going to help them work on their passing, catching, running and all those skills that everyone should know how to do.”
