Registration set to close Friday for soccer

The Lac La Ronge Tri-Community Soccer Association is ready for a fifth season.

Registration closes Friday for anyone interested in signing up for the sports as sessions begin next week. The season will run for five weeks until Oct. 7 and include athletes in categories as young as U5 and high as U15.

“We are looking for volunteers as always, so if you are looking to volunteer, have credentials to volunteer or just want to do some side help, contact our Facebook page and that’s the best way to get a hold of our executive to let us know you are interested,” said board member Thomas Sierzycki.

The number of kids in each category depends on the number of coaches available, but Sierzycki expects a minimum of 18 participants in each one with up to 24 in the younger categories. With those numbers, it allowed for three-on-three or four-on-four, which aligns with Saskatchewan Soccer Association’s Development Guide.

Up to 100 kids are involved each season and joining soccer in tri-communities includes paying a registration fee and owning shoes (preferably soccer cleats), shin guards, socks and shorts. Sierzycki noted the organization and KidSport have opportunities available for those who might need assistance joining the program.

Sierzycki explained there are perks to joining soccer such as it being a great transition between sports, having great physical aspects to it, as well as social dynamics.

“If you haven’t registered yet, please do so,” he said. “If not, contact one of the board members through the Facebook page and we will be sure to help you out.”
